Domestic Fare Structure
Domestic Standard Condition
Standard conditions
For the purpose of the Qantas Domestic tariff these are defined as:
(a) Normal fares – unrestrictive fare eg. Y, J.
(b) Special fares – all other fares that operate with special fare conditions.
Sales Restrictions
Electronic ticket only. Exception: where specified in fare rule.
Application
Combination one-way fares may be sold on the same ticket. All one-way fares are to be treated as
individual one-way fares even when issued on the same ticket. Multiple sectors for the same city pair
in the same direction not permitted. All tickets must be travelled in coupon sequence.
Children and Infant Fares
QF Domestic child: 2-11 years of age inclusive at departure of each one-way fare component.
QF Domestic infant: less than 2 years of age at departure of each one-way fare component. Infant
passengers permitted to travel at no fare provided they do not occupy a seat. If a seat is required the
child fare will apply.
NB: Combination infant/child/adult fares require separate booking and separate tickets if the GDS is
unable to price different passenger types at a segment level.
Minimum stay
Not applicable to one-way fares. This includes one-way fares issued in combination.
Maximum stay
Ticket is valid for 12 months from date of original ticket issue. All travel must be completed by this
date.
Ticket validity
Ticket document expires and is not valid for travel or exchange at 12 months from date of original
issue. Once the ticket has expired it is valid for refund only (where fare rule permits).
Stopovers
Stopovers not permitted within a fare component.
Note: A Domestic stopover is a break in journey at an intermediate ticketed point where onward travel
does not take place on the same calendar day.
Transfers

Note: A Domestic transfer is a break in journey at an intermediate ticketed point where departure
from the transfer point takes place on the same calendar day as the arrival at the transfer point.
Route map
The fare is dependent on the routing flown. When different fares are offered refer to the applicable
route map to determine eligible routing’s.
Advertising and Sales
Normal fares: Permitted worldwide
Special fares: Restrictions as noted in fare rule.
Reservations
Booking classes: as specified in the fare rule.
Exception: voluntary downgrade on a business class fare to Y class where no business class is
offered/available is permitted at no compensation unless the ticket is reissued and the recalculation
results in a residual refund.
Waitlists and open segments:
Special Fares: Open sectors not permitted. Waitlist not permitted. Confirmed reservations must be
held for all flights.
Payment and Ticketing
Normal fares: No special requirements and final payment may be made right up to closure of the first
flight.
Special fares: When the payment deadline is expressed as a number of days after confirmation of
reservations or creation of the pnr, the first day to be counted is the day immediately after the day
the booking is created.
Eg. If a booking is created on 01 Jan and the deadline is 1 days after the reservation is made – final
payment must be received no later than midnight on 02 Jan
Voluntary Changes
Voluntary rebooking and re-routing are permitted in accordance with the fare rule and require a reprice
of the affected fare components. If the fare and/or taxes have increased the ticket must be
reissued reflecting the additional fare and/or taxes with the change fee (if applicable). All tickets must
be reissued to reflect the correct sequence of travel.
Fare Reassessment
All one-way fare components are to be treated as individual one-way fare components even when
issued on the same ticket.
Change fee application
The change penalty may be applied individually to each one-way fare component according to the fare
type used. When more than one fare component is changed in a single transaction only one change
fee is applied, that being the highest of the applicable change fees. Exception: when domestic fares
are combined end-on end with International fares the change fee for both the Domestic and
International fare will be charged if both are being changed.
Combinations
Fares used in combination are to be shown separately on the ticket. Not all fares are combinable.
Normal fares: No restrictions.
Special fares: Combinations permitted in accordance with the applicable fare rule. When different
fares are combined the most restrictive condition will be applied to the entire ticket in the case of
(advance reservation/ticketing time limit/combinations/sales restrictions). The most restrictive
condition does not apply to cancellations/refunds/change penalties. In this case the applicable fare
rule for the affected segment applies.
Ticket entries
Fare calculation: one-way fares issued in combination must be shown separately on the ticket.
Special fares: Endorsement restrictions required as per the fare rule.

- a request to refund part or all of the ticketed journey
- a request to exchange part or all of the ticket for another ticket

where the value is forfeited)

Tickets in credit
Normal fares: No restriction

fare is of equal or higher value. Multiple fares/tickets can be used as credit towards payment of a new
ticket provided the new fare is of equal/higher value than the combined fares of the original ticket.
NB: If the fare rule specifies changes “not permitted if a flight is being re-booked from a future date
to today” this is carried over to any values stored in credit. The credit cannot then be used to
purchase a fare on the day of departure.
NB: If the domestic credit is used as exchange to an International journey the original amount
remains non-refundable and assumes the condition of the new International fare. The original
domestic value cannot be returned to a domestic credit.
